September 20, 2014 | Festival in the Hills  

Salt Sulphur Springs Resort

Third Annual festival from 11:00 – 7:00 celebrating local arts, music, foods, beer and wine. Fun-packed event with artists from Monroe, Greenbrier, Mercer, Summers & Giles Counties. Sponsored by the New Language Art to benefit The Hans Creek Community Hall.Contact:  304-832-6268.

September 27-28, 2014 | Autumn Harvest Festival

WVU Willow Bend Farm, 4 Miles South of Union, WV on Willow Bend Road
Festival celebrating the end of the agricultural season. Come for the best food; country, live bluegrass & gospel music; handmade quilts & crafts. Vegetable, flower, quilt & art contests. Horseshoe & corn hole tournaments. Youth tractor pull. Apple butter making will be demonstrated and the results will be sold. Large flea market. Opening ceremony 10:00 a.m. on 28th. Free admittance. June 5-7, 2015 | Farmer’s Day

Downtown Union

An old-fashioned annual event honoring Monroe County’s agricultural heritage. Sponsored by the Union Chamber of Commerce. Contact: 304.772.3003.

July 4, 2015 | Alderson 4th of July Celebration

West Virginia's Largest Independence Day Celebration kicks off with a bicycle race. July 26, 2014 | Zephyr Lightning Bolts

Pipestem Resort State Park
Zephyr Lightning Bolts is a bluegrass and old time music experience. A family band, hailing from Wilkes County North Carolina, Steve on guitar, Diane on claw-hammer banjo, and Jacob on fiddle and each one a singers. Jacob developed his passion for fiddle playing from instructors Thornton and Emily Spencer of Whitetop, VA. He is an avid Old Time Music collector and influenced by the late Albert Hash, G.B. Grayson, Rafe Brady, Eck Robertson and other great fiddlers. Each musician is a graduate of Appalachian State University. Show begins at 8:00 p.m. Admission is Adults: $8; Youth 6-12: $3; Children 5 and younger, free.

August 2, 2014 | Bil Lepp – Storyteller - Liar - Comedian – Humorist

Get ready to laugh yourself silly…Bil Lepp is a master storyteller and a champion liar. His humorous tales curls the lips on the grumpiest of people and has been described as a satisfying blend of Bill Cosby and Jeff Foxworthy. Sure to tickle your funny bone. Laughter begins at 8:00 p.m. at Amphitheater. This program is free and open to the public.

August 30, 2014 |"Wings of Wonder" - Birds of Prey

Pipestem Resort State Park
Celebrate WV Day! "Who cooks for me, who cooks for you all?" What bird says this phrase? Come to this Birds of Prey Education Program featuring live birds native to West Virginia to learn about owls, hawks and eagles. You'll learn about the habitat, diet and behavior of each bird presented, the most common causes of injury to each species and the laws protecting these special birds. No fee to attend. Open to the public. 7:00 p.m. McKeever Lodge Conference Center. Presented by Three Rivers Avian Center of Brooks WV.
