July 4, 2014 | Alderson 4th of July Celebration

West Virginia's Largest Independence Day Celebration kicks off with a bicycle race on Saturday, June 29th. September 27-28, 2014 | Autumn Harvest Festival

WVU Willow Bend Farm, 4 Miles South of Union, WV on Willow Bend Road
Festival celebrating the end of the agricultural season. Come for the best food; country, live bluegrass & gospel music; handmade quilts & crafts. Vegetable, flower, quilt & art contests. Horseshoe & corn hole tournaments. Youth tractor pull. Apple butter making will be demonstrated and the results will be sold. Large flea market. Opening ceremony 10:00 a.m. on 28th. Free admittance. A beach party in the mountains! Put on your tropical shirts, your beachy-finest and join us in the conference center. Music provided by DJ Nick Crewey. There is a $5 admission. If you feel like taking a swim, the indoor pool is open until midnight. Dance party from 8:00-10:00 p.m. and geared to all ages. Open to the public.

An evening of music by a community town band preforming an eclectic mix of classical, popular and patriotic concert band music. This ensemble of 60-plus members is directed by Concord University graduate and retired Mercer County music teacher Mel Saunders. The Maurice Ulmer Group has been rocking the two Virginia's for years. If you like classic Rock N Roll, Blues and Rockabilly you will enjoy original music composed by Maurice Ulmer: an ASCAP Award Winner in 2010 for his CD 'Rock of the Alleghenies." Valley Bluegrass Band is just that, bluegrass music at its finest. Featuring Larry Cox on guitar and vocal; Eddie Cales on dobro - one of the best traditional bluegrass dobro players in WV; Tommy Crigger on bass and back up vocals; and Tim York on banjo and guitar and vocals. Loretta Cox is the sound boards.

Acoustic Crossroads (called A.C.R.) is a high-energy band based in the New River Valley are of Radford, Virginia. In addition to originals, the band plays a variety of new and old country, some blues and class and Southern rock. Band members include: Steve Stewart - Lead Vocals, Guitar; Tyler Jones - Lead Guitar; Vocals Tommie Lee Stewart - Vocals, Keyboard; Mark Skidmore - Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals and Allen Meadows - Drums & Percussion, Vocals. Little Sparrow is a vibrant, versatile vocal duo combining well crafted original songs with dynamically arranged traditional material accompanied by guitar, acoustic bas and percussions with Capella offerings as well. Deeply rooted in hearth and home of southern West Virginia, this pair also includes other regions and moors in their music. Mary Dailey and Jeanne Hoffman are Little Sparrow. Their stage presence is like a 'front porch evening' sitting with friends and enjoying the time together. Show begins at 8:00 p.m. at the Outdoor Amphitheater. July 26, 2014 | Zephyr Lightning Bolts

Zephyr Lightning Bolts is a bluegrass and old time music experience. A family band, hailing from Wilkes County North Carolina, Steve on guitar, Diane on claw-hammer banjo, and Jacob on fiddle and each one a singers. Jacob developed his passion for fiddle playing from instructors Thornton and Emily Spencer of Whitetop, VA. He is an avid Old Time Music collector and influenced by the late Albert Hash, G.B. Grayson, Rafe Brady, Eck Robertson and other great fiddlers. Each musician is a graduate of Appalachian State University. Show begins at 8:00 p.m. Admission is Adults: $8; Youth 6-12: $3; Children 5 and younger, free.

August 2, 2014 | Bil Lepp – Storyteller - Liar - Comedian – Humorist

August 30, 2014 |"Wings of Wonder" - Birds of Prey

Celebrate WV Day! "Who cooks for me, who cooks for you all?" What bird says this phrase? Come to this Birds of Prey Education Program featuring live birds native to West Virginia to learn about owls, hawks and eagles. You'll learn about the habitat, diet and behavior of each bird presented, the most common causes of injury to each species and the laws protecting these special birds. No fee to attend. Open to the public. 7:00 p.m. McKeever Lodge Conference Center. Presented by Three Rivers Avian Center of Brooks WV.
