May 28, 2016 | Strawberry Festival, Garden Sale and Flea Market

Alderson, WV.  9am-3pm Strawberry Festival activies at the Alderson Visitor Center Parking Lot, Memorial Bridge, Alumni Park and other points around town.  Strawberry pie baking contests, crazy-straw competition, music, food, and much more.  Don't forget the garden sale and flea market.  Starting with a strawberry pancake breakfast at the Alderson Volunteer Fire Department and continuing throughout the day, the Alderson Strawberry Festival has something for everyone. May 30, 2016 | Memorial Bridge Monday

Alderson, WV.  6:30-8:00pm, Memorial Day Concert with the Goodson Boys.  See you on the bridge!

June 3-5, 2016 | 62nd Annual Farmer's Day           "Farmers. . . Outstanding in their Field"

Union, WV.  Farmer's Day, June 3, 4, and 5th, will kickoff with a street dance Friday night, 8:30-11:30 pm.  Buddy Allen and the Cheat River Band will be the featured act.  Start Saturday off with the EMS pancake breakfast at the Union Rescue Squad on Pump Street(pancakes, sausage, plus biscuits and gravy).  Get there early and check out the Monroe Farmer's Market on the corner of Main and Nota Street (Farm Family Insurance).  Many people are excited to see the Farmer's Day 5K run and 3K walk coming to Farmer's Day this year.  Runners will start the race in front of the Monroe County Courthouse promptly at 9 am. The grand parade will begin at 11 am.  While in town for the parade, consider patronizing various non-profit booths selling food and other goodies.  After the parade, stay in town and head to the Union Pool for its opening day, pitch horseshoes in the amateur contest, pick out your favorite car at the auto and bike show behind the Union Fire Department, listen to gospel music on the main stage, or head to Gap Mills for the community center sponsored truck and tractor pull. 

Free hotdogs and ice cream will be handed out during Farmer's Day on the Field (Mountain View School Football Field).  In addition to free food, there will be music and karaoke with Cowboy Will of 99.5 WJLS, field games for ALL ages, and various fun activities for the entire family.  This starts at 5 pm and food will be served until its gone.  FIREWORKS at 9:30 pm.    Local churches invite attendees to their services Sunday morning

Alderson, WV.  Check out their website for a complete schedule!  The largest 4th of July celebration in West Virginia.

September 10, 2016 | JAKES Day

Moncove Lake State Park, Gap Mills, WV.  The JAKES field day will provide opportunities for youth up to 17 years of age to experience the outdoors through hands-on events, education, fellowship and family fun. Those attending the National Wild Turkey Federation, JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) program will learn about hunting, camping, fishing and many other conservation-related topics. Attendees must preregister. Limited to 100 youth.

September 24-25, 2016 | Autumn Harvest Festival

WVU Willow Bend Farm, 4 Miles South of Union, WV on Willow Bend Road
Festival celebrating the end of the agricultural season. Come for the best food; country, live bluegrass & gospel music; handmade quilts & crafts. Vegetable, flower, quilt & art contests. Horseshoe & corn hole tournaments. Youth tractor pull. Apple butter making will be demonstrated and the results will be sold. Large flea market. Free admittance.
