Monroe County is uniquely situated to take advantage of all the surrounding festivals, events and activities that are offered throughout the year.  Below are just a few we thought you might be interested in.



May 3-5, 2018 | "Old Monroe: Recollections of a Frontier Past 1770-1820"

Union, WV. Frontier living history encampment May 3-5 on Pump Street. Frontier history presentations and art show celebrating African American history and talent in our community at Elmwood, 6-10pm May 3rd & 4th. Spring historic home tour May 5th 10am to 5pm, includes homes/churches with log cabin structural components and/or connection to our Black community, including the impressive First Baptist Church. Native American Family Storytelling May 5th 1-5pm at Ames Claire Hall. Fundraising efforts will support much needed work at Elmwood Cemetery, a former slave  cemetery.”  Organized by Monroe County Heritage Days.

September 22-23, 2018 | Autumn Harvest Festival

WVU Willow Bend Farm, 4 Miles South of Union, WV on Willow Bend Road
Festival celebrating the end of the agricultural season. Come for the best food; country, live bluegrass & gospel music; handmade quilts & crafts. Vegetable, flower, quilt & art contests. Horseshoe & corn hole tournaments. Youth tractor pull. Apple butter making will be demonstrated and the results will be sold. Large flea market. Free admittance. Contact: 304-772-5475.

October 2018 | Peterstown Heritage Festival

Peterstown, WV. Festival celebrating with a parade, vendors, town-wide karoake, VA Artillery Living History, Quilt and Photography Show, plus much more.  Those interested in a vendor spot, stop by KC's Dawgs and Burger Haus or the Bread Basket for a registration form.
